Question Need Photoshop help... - 11-30-2009, 06:10 PM

Up until today I've been able to save PS projects in a multitude of file types. But for some reason it is only allowing me to save things in about five different formats... .PSD .PSB .PDF .RAW and .TIFF

Where might the .GIF and .JPEG and all the rest have gone?

The only thing that I've done different is open Bridge today which I dont usually do.

HELP!

Chris,

I don't know if this is why, but check the Image / Mode / ... 8-Bits/Channel, 16-Bits/Channel, or 32-Bits/Channel ... If 16-Bits/Channel is selected, then I've found I can't save as a JPG.

I think Randy nailed it. My guess is you are going RAW to TIFF and in 16 bit. Bring it down to 8 bit to save as jpg.

You are also limited while saving files when you convert to duotone and others (if I remember correctly).

I'm pretty sure it's the 8-bit thing too. JPGs can only be 8-bit files, but the file types you mentioned can be 16-bit.

I ran into this a while back as well. I think it ended up having something to do with layers. When I "flattened the image", it opened up the full gamut of save options.
