Windows 7 question - 12-26-2009, 11:05 PM

Just got a new laptop with the Windows 7 Home Premium on it and wanted to make sure that any Photoshop program will run on it. I'm wanting to buy (or should I say re-buy?) CS3 which says it works on Windows XP and Vista but not the new program. Will I be okay with that or do I have to buy CS4?

Why rebuy? Can't you use the license you already have? You might check your EULA.

Adobe will help you uninstall CS3 from your old computer, if it is still running, and reinstall it on your new one. The last time I did this it was a free service. Give them a call on Monday.

Umm, as far as rebuying I was talking about my other post on the CS3 rip-off. I uploaded that whole thing to my laptop and THEN found out the serial number was invalid so of course I can't use it and am back at square one as far as where to buy a legitimate one.

CS3 and CS4 run fine on W7. As far as using your current version all you have to do is go to the HELP menu and click on DEACTIVATE on your old computer and reinstall on your new computer and activate it. Adobe allows activation on up to 2 computers to be used 1 at a time.

Very simple and will save a call to Adobe.

For what it's worth, If you have Win7 64 bit, there IS a 64 bit version of Lightroom, but so far no 64 bit version of Photoshop. It'll still run, but it will be faster when they come out with a 64 bit version - probably CS5.

Dito... If I were going to purchase, I'd buy the current CS4... However, no problems with CS3 on W7 64-bit

There is a 64 bit version of CS4.
I bought a new laptop for Xmas. I downloaded my Cs4 onto it.
Two versions showed up Cs4 and Cs4 64 bit.
The only problem is most of my plug ins will not run on the 64 bit version so I still end up using the regular version.
