I have Windows XP, PS CS4, and an older Wacom tablet (circa 2007 or so).

I don't use the tablet very often, so it sits parked on my desk with the pen in the little storage space for months on end.

I went to use it this weekend, and it would draw lines even before the pen touched the tablet. This is super frustrating.

I've done some searches online, and most comments point back to the nib being jammed up into the pen housing. I'm not really sure how to go about testing to see if that's the case or not.

Has anyone ever had experience with this issue before?

David,

I'm not familiar with the tablets, but I have one of the Cintiq screens. There is a utility (look in a Wacom folder ? ) that might allow you to calibrate your pen. If that doesn't lead you anywhere, I've sent off a request for support from Wacom and received a fairly quick response from the customer service on some other issues.

Hope this helps.
Randy

You might also try unplugging the unit from the USB port, waiting a few seconds, then plug it back in again. That should reset the driver. Then you can try the control panel or preferences pane (depending on OS platform). Finally, I'd try updating the driver to the latest available from Wacom. If you've done OS patches since the last driver update, that could also be an issue.
