PS CS4 32bit vs 64 bit?

I have upgraded my computer to 64 bit and CS4 allows you to open in either 32 or 64. What benefit is there to working in 64 bit vs. 32 bit?

Assuming you have more than 4GB of RAM, 64-bit is preferred. The only reason to run 32-bit is for plugins that aren't compatible with 64-bit. Unfortunately, that's a lot of plugins since it seems many vendors haven't updated their wares for 64-bit compatibility yet.

64 bit allows for over 4 gb limit. with 32bit, You technically can raise it to about 2700-3200 utilization but that detracts from windows and other apps in the background.


Don't forget to go into prefs and edit the usage.

Ok, thanks. I currently have 6GB RAM so I guess I'll stick with 64 bit.
