I've got XP home 32bit so maybe I could add more RAM by replacing one of the sticks with a 2GB so I'd have 3GB? I do remember him saying there were two slots. Or if you up one you have to up the other so they're even?

I'm afraid the answer is 'it depends'

The motherboard, that's the system board in the PC that everything plugs into, dictates whether it allows for RAM modules of different size. Some require that slot pairs have matching memory, others won't or self detect and work both ways.

Memory being relatively cheap as it is, I'd say get two 2GB sticks. It won't hurt anything. And if you ever go Windows 7 Home 32 bit, you'll be good to go with the 4GB of RAM.

My guess is that it is a MicroATX board that has 2 slots.

You should be fine to load PS CS3. Do it. you don't need anything special done.

As for more ram, Win 32bit can only address 3.5 gb of memory (it is a lengthy reason). My educated guess is that you should have no problem.

I keep all my plugins, brushes, actions etc in a separate folder and also on an external hard drive so when I change computers or upgrade versions I can load them back onto the computer or into the new program. I would copy the plug in folder and the preset folder from your PSE into a separate folder before uninstalling your PSE.
