Viveza 2 PS and PSE plug in - 01-29-2010, 05:22 PM

I've been using Viveza 2 - a software plug in for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements - that is really slick. It creates layers with a "u" point technology that is really quick and easy.

Anyone else using this cool plug in?

This shot looks like there's a lot of jpeg artifacting. Overall, it looks nice from an exposure perspective, but it's hard to tell about noise, etc from the low res version posted.

Don't know if Viveza/Topaz plug-ins work in OS X but was wanting to try it out.

It would really help if you posted the before image in both of your topic posts so it's clear what it manipulates.

Don't know the answer to that one.....you'll have to check out the Viveza (Nik Software) and Topaz (Topaz Labs) sites to determine which operating systems they work with currently.

And, unfortunately, I can't seem to locate the originals so they could be posted together with the "after" images.

In a nutshell, Viveza allows you to control things like warmth, light, tone, contrast, structure and others variables by pointing at one section or portion of the image. It does what layers does, only so much easier and intuitive.

Last time I tried a Topaz plugin it destroyed the quality of every image it created, leaving tons of artifacts just like in the sample image. I was not very impressed.

I had heard that about the early Topaz releases....but the newest versions (Topaz Adjust 3 and Topaz Detail 2) are both great at enhancing color and detail without any artifacting.

Unfortunately, the sample image I put up is not a good example of what they can do....and so I've removed it.

I use the original version of Viveza which I like very much and I believe the cost has gone down from what I paid.

Looks really interesting Jeff. I've used the first version of Viveza but only as a trial. Version 2 with its ability to work as a Lightroom plug-in (via Export) looks like a better fit (for me). I'll have to download it and see if it fits into my workflow.

I'm interested to see how the export/re-import feature works.

Nikon Capture is based on Viveza. I bought it and really like it. Works on PC and Mac.
