One feature they left out, is that it randomly rotates my NEFs on import.

Did you mention that to them?
They sometimes have fixes for certain problems.

Their support pages show it as a problem with NEF+JPG, but nothing about the raw files by themselves. It just seems a bit ridiculous that they'd release the application with such a glaring problem.

Yikes, are they saying that it's being worked on?
The more noise everyone makes the quicker they will fix it.

I didn't see anything about a resolution, but I went ahead and started a new topic on the Apple support forums.

Here is Apple's support brief:

Aperture 3: Some Nikon RAW images do not rotate correctly on import when importing RAW+JPEG

They're finally catching up with Lightroom. Although, LR does not have the face detection and recognition technology. Thais a cool feature.

Rumors have LR3 being released in April.

Mark, it says that it should work if you have upgraded to Mac OS X v10.6.
v10.5 will have this problem.
Let us know if the upgrade solved the problem.

Has anyone had problems with Aperture 3.
I've found several problems with, like not being able to see
changes using plug-ins.
Also making images smaller to email does not work.
Anyone who's going to upgrade to Aperture3, I recommend you wait until
the fix comes out for all the problems.
It's not ready for primetime yet.

^^ I usually wait 6 months for companies to fix issues with any product they bring out ...

There are usually major bugs fixed with the first 6 months of any products release whether it be software or hardware.

I am excited to Aperture take another step forward ... but I will sit on my Aperture 2 till the fixes are made and hear less complaints.
