Does Windows 7 Equal no EXIF Data? PROBLEM SOLVED - 03-05-2010, 11:33 PM

Or am I doing something wrong? I downloaded Opanda, but nothing! Then I read somewhere......can't remember where........that Windows 7 will prevent the reading of the exif info., but if PSCS3 is on the computer you would be able to read it. Is this correct or a bunch of bull? PSCS3 is loaded on a new Dell laptop. Any info would be appreciated.

I use Windows 7 64 bit and CS4.
By right clicking on a file and selecting Properties I see all the EXIF data expected.

Hmm, well I do have CS4 (as mentioned) and Lightroom 2 installed so not suree if they added that capability or not.

Did you install any on the Windows Essentials when you installed Windows 7?
The Picture and Fax Viewer was removed from Windows 7. The Windows Picture Viewer is the default program in Windows 7 for viewing images. This program has no image editing capabilities.

The latest versions of this program is still freely available and can be downloaded at the
Windows Live Essentials website.

This includes the Windows Live Photo Gallery which is the latest Microsoft image editing software.

This may be where the EXIF properties came from.
Hope that helps.

PS, there is also a plugin for Firefox that shows the EXIF data of web images. You might try that also if you use Firefox.

I don't have anything imaging-related on my Win7 box, and I get the four tabs when I bring up properties. On a JPEG all the info shown in Randy's post is there. None of the image-specific stuff is there when I open a NEF, though the properties dialog does still have the four tabs.

Still haven't figured it why it will not work! I'll keep working on it.

Odd, I have looked at 3 other win7 boxes now and all have the properties box with the details tab.

I use Internet Explorer. Could that be a problem? Never has been before. Also does ActiveX have anything to do with viewing the data? Have not seen it pop up on this laptop. Should I install it? Not sure if it's on the old computers, but I know I've never had an issue with seeing the exif data. Just a thought.

Thanks Randy and Bill for all the help and info. I uninstalled Opanda then made sure to reinstalled free version and all is working now. Not sure what was wrong with the first installation, but all's well now.
