Brightness v exposure adjustments in lightroom

Was working through a set of images, and came up with a question: I wondered what the primary difference was between the brightness and exposure sliders in lightroom.

Came across an excellent video that demonstrated the differences very succinctly.

I will look at the link later but from my Lightroom class we learned that the brightness effects mid-tones more than the highlights and shadows. Whereas the exposure is more of a sweeping adjustment.
