New owner of Canon 50d - Adobe Photoshop? - 04-18-2010, 08:37 AM

I am a beginner...but I really love taking pictures (just as a hobby). I am looking for software that will enable me to edit my photos...What is the best to buy? I am looking for something that isn't difficult to understand...user friendly. Adobe Photoshop? I have a Mac...

Thanks!!!

Elements is more of a simple utility program than PS. PS is huge and has a learning curve.

so Elements 8 Mac would be a good one? I appreciate your help...I have the iphoto on my mac that I like working with, but I was wanting more options...but I want something fairly easy to navigate. Thanks for your input!

Aperture 3 is a Mac only program, and it is pretty sophisticated, but costs more than Elements.

This is a limited time suggestion. But right now while it's still free to use, you should try Lightroom 3 beta 2.

Why not give it a try? While I've not yet looked, I'm sure that Adobe has a fair amount of free tutorials either already available, or in the pipeline for release soon. Then there are other tutorials that aren't free, but easy to follow.

Elements was the best $99 I ever spent on photography!

Why not use the program that came with the camera. DPP is a good program and it is free. I use it and Elements 7 if I need to do anything else to my shots.
