DAM: Lightroom & Aperture - 04-27-2010, 02:52 PM

Hi,
I keep hearing how Aperture's DAM is so much better and feature rich in comparison with Lightroom. I have copies of both, but I don't see what's so much better about it. Can anyone point it out for me???

Ya, i agree... Lightroom is awesome. But so is Aperture. In fact, even though i tend to prefer Lightroom's way of making certain adjustments, Aperture seems to have the better raw processor when it comes to my Leica M9 files.

But regardless, no one seems to talk much about the DAM aspect of either of these wonderful packages, of which it is a MAJOR part. I'd like to learn more and wondering why Aperture seems to get the nod in this respect.

I've used Aperture 2 for a more than a year. I downloaded a trial version of Lightroom, but just never got serious about it. I might have liked it had I given Lightroom a better look. Aperture just suits me. I plan to try Aperture 3, although I am waiting to upgrade my RAM first. I have read it is a memory hog.

I've got a 2x2.16 quad core mac with 16gb of ram and yes, some adjustments do take a sec to process.

I've had both and have been using Lightroom for a while, but now after buying the Aperture 3 Pro Training Series book with dvd.... WOW. I'll be using Aperture now.
