I have seen borders, that are thin on all sides but the bottom where the bottom is thicker and the signature is place there so it does not interfere with the photo, how is that done?

like a frame? you can youtube "gallery frames" and find some tutorials on this type of thing. Photography | Photoshop | Lightroom | Video | Tutorials | Reviews had a tutorial on doing it a while back, not sure if they're still giving that one away for free though as he's done some changes to his site.

Do a forum search for 'watermark'. Donna Beard posted a very good tutorial some months ago about setting up your watermark, and I think there is a youtube video that shows how to do it with a frame as well.
