Topaz labs has updated their Denoise Ver. 4.0 Plug-in to Ver. 4.10. The update is free if you are a registered user. It appears they have added some additional choices for their default settings for both RAW and Jpeg.

Just passing on the info.

I have always un-installed the previous version before trying to load the new one. However, make sure you record your Key Code.

When I did this with the previous version, I opened the section where the key code is stored, high lighted it, and hit copy. When I installed ver 4, I opened it, and pasted the key code in the proper place.

This time, I went to the section where the key code was stored and only found a series of dots. I copied them anyway. I installed version 4.10 and when I opened the section where the key code is stored, my name and the series of dots was already there. Everything works fine.

I signed up to be on their e-mail list and they sent me the upgrade notice. In that notice, they advised that none of the defaults in ver 4 were compatible with the new version.

Good Luck.

When I upgraded from V3 to V4 I left V3 alone and down loaded V4, did the copy/paste thing with the Key Code and all went well. Tried the same thing with the V4.1 upgrade and every thing locked up, still showed V4 but nothing worked. So I removed all traces of V4 and down loaded V4.1 again. Just like Donb10, my name was there and a long row of dots where the Key Code goes. All seems to be working fine and, after a test drive, I think the upgrade is well worth the doing.

Shot at ISO 6400 with a Canon 7D and a Tamron 17-50mm lens at 50mm. 1/60 at f/3.2. Denoise setting was RAW Strong. The only light was from the lamp next to the figure. I'm happy.

That looks good, Don... but the real comparison would be to show a with and without DeNoise next to one another.

Yeah, let's see the before shot. I've been really happy with the built in NR in Lightroom 3 Beta 2, but I've never used a third party NR plug-in so I don't have much to compare with.

OK, this is the original image. It was a RAW image, I set the white balance, and adjusted the exposure slider, opened it and saved it as a jpeg with no denoise.

Thanks, Don. Looks like it does a really good job at keeping the detail too.
