RAW conversion blues...HELP!! - 08-07-2010, 11:56 AM

I shot a band last night, shot in RAW, and now cs4 will not open the files, saying it is not the right kind of document, however, I can open RAW files from my d40, but nothing from my d90, which is what I shot the entire thing with. I can, however, open the files in UFRaw, a free conversion program I got before I got cs4, but many of the controls I have in cs4 are not there, and after I open them in UFRaw, I have to then send them to GIMP, then save as a JPEG, and then open in cs4 and begin editing...any ideas as for a fix to this, because I really do not want to spend all of the extra time of using 3 different programs if it is not necessary

p.s. checked the memory cards also to see if that was the problem, but RAW files I shot today with the d40 using the card from last night open up fine in cs4, so it is something to do with the d90 I suppose

You may have already done this but have you checked Adobe for updates?

not yet, but if it was a problem with Adobe wouldn't it be across the board with all RAW files, not just ones from one camera? Or at least that's what I would think

Here's the scoop on Adobe.
They want you to have to buy the new program to support your camera.
There should however be a plugin available for your d90 and CS4.

go to the adobe site and get the plugin.
keep in mind that if you upgrade your camera it's likely that PS will need to be upgraded as well.

Nevermind folks, I texted my buddy that I got the camera from, and he said with the d90 you have to have Adobe RAW to do the conversion, not just Photoshop, so I'm gonna get that from him, thanks!

you will need ACR version 5.1 or newer to support the D90
