agreed.
it happened to my moms external drive. i just took the drive out of the enc and mounted it inside her computer. problem solved.
being an IT guy, the most common thing i see is the power supply for external hard drives dying.
most common thing i see for internal hard drives is the controller board dying. this can usually be fixed by finding the same type of drive, and swapping the boards. usually it's just a few screws and a snap connector.
if simply taking it out of the enc doesn't work, snap a pic of the drive once it's out of the enc and i can see if i have one like it
