monitor calibration - 09-20-2010, 09:22 PM

I could not find a thread about this, and not sure where to post it.

I got a pantone huey, calibrated and now the monitor has a rose color that is definately not right. Calibrated twice, cleand the screen and now I am stumped. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance, Sid

Do you have another calibration software being loaded - i.e. Adobe Gamma? You need to make sure only one calibration SW is running. Have you reset the monitor setting to the factory settings prior to doing the calibration?

Also, when you have calibrated the monitor it may look different and slightly off color because you were used to the previous settings.

Sidney, I have run out of suggestions. I am not familiar with the Pantone Huey calibration equipment & SW (I use Spyder2Pro). I believe that others on the form have used it (successfully), so hopefully one of those people will be able to provide you with a solution.

Are you using the Windows or the monitor's OEM driver?

Have you gone into the windows color settings and selected the profile? Often the correct profile is only loaded for programs and not general photo viewing.

Go into the control panel and search for Color. Make sure that your profile is set as default.

I'm not sure, but when you say "Pantone" they are associated with print.

It could be that the calibration is set for a printing press profile? Because many colors' hues and saturation can change dramatically if you're going from a pure pigment to what a printing press would have to produce. It might be some odd preference that is checked to output what you view at CMYK.

Long shot, but I thought I'd mention it.
