Midi Sliders for Lightroom - 10-01-2010, 08:58 PM

Will be setting this up over the weekend, I will keep you posted.

PADDY for Lightroom

The thought of being able to use actual sliders (midi) to control sliders in LR instead of a pen or a mouse is to attractive to not try!

I don't see where this is easier than using a mouse or pen. Seems like a PITA to me. Plus you have that big ole "thing" sitting on your desk. No thanks.

wonder if they will come out with 64bit drivers and software? I was looking at those for controllers for mixing sound in sound booth or premiere.

Certainly to each his own Sonny, for me, if I can keep one hand on a pen and the nother on a device that can keep me from jumping around the keyboard or trying to do small slider adjustments then it is all good. It may be a big Ole thank but at least it ain't all the ugly :)

Well I certainly must say that this project is not for the faint of heart! After following the installation instructions not seeing anything being controlled was a disappointment. After numerous googles I found a reference to yet another piece of open source software that was needed to remap keys.

With that installed and another 20 minutes to make the midi controller wakeup I was off!

Using the fader sliders to control things like color temperature, tint was a very nice experience and very easy to move the values in very small increments. Watching the sliders move settings as I moved from image to image was kind of cool as well, something fascinating about controlling things remotely :) .

Per my earlier response to Robert, Behringers did have win7 64 drivers for the fader but my system did execute a couple of unexpected resets (usually a driver issue) that left me a little concerned. The system was stable after that for the rest of my editing session (about 5 hours).

If anyone is interested I will document the process.

oh snap... I used to write electronic music and still have a few midi controllers laying around. that would be awesome if I could put them to use again.
