I hope I have this in the right thread. I have a event coming up that we are trying to set up the galleries before hand in SmugMug using Lightroom so when we take the photo's we can upload them straight into SmugMug.
My problem is I need MULTIPLE galleries.
I thought I found the answer doing collection sets but either I am not understanding this or it won't let me do multiple sub-folder which I need.
I have the folders already set up on my hard drive and here is a photo of what I am needing. Is this possible? | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

I'll add, I'm sure I'll be corrected if I misstated.
Folders and collection/collection sets are 2 separate things.
Collections have no relation to folders. While folders are related to where your photos are located.
You can create a collection set for your event, then create a smart collection based on keywords, so they will be associated to that smart collection.
For instance:
Collection set name: Sports
Smart Collection based on keyword, cycling named cycling.
Photo 1, 3, and 8 have keyword cycling in it, the smart collection named cycling will have those 3 files only and no others, unless it has cycling.
Now do the collections move them, no. Collections are only reading the data within LR.

So, I JUST now played with the smart collection for folder....
Now, you can create a smart collection based on the photos are located in, filename, etc.
Just remember, when you create a collection it will not create a folder. That will need to be done as part of the import process.
Confused? Good! ;) | | | |

If you know this, then disregard
Step 1 - Camera to Computer
You can have LR do the import for you and place the files in the location you tell it to, for instances, BestofBreed and 6-9. If you're doing this via LR, then it should also add these photos to your catalog. Lightroom is basically using a pointer to where the actual location of the file is located.
Step 2 - Import to LR
If you copied the files to your computer by another method outside of LR, you need to import them and choose Add at the top center, this will add the photos to your catalog without moving them. This is stated once you click on Add :) At this time, you'll want to any generic keywords, for instance, I would use, dogs, pedigree, dog show.
Step 3
Work your magic on the photos
Step 4 - Upload
This is the tricky part, you can used the Published Services feature that is now available for smugmug via LR3 - The SmugMug and Lightroom 3 Publish Services Thread - Digital Grin Photography Forum
You can create the folders under Published Services. Once you've created your folders under Published Services for SM, then you can click and drag your photos into them. Once you're satisfied, it's time to publish.
Again remember, your folder layout on your harddrive will not translate as to how it will look in smugmug AUTOMATICALLY. You will need to create the folders/categories in Smugmug.
I dont mean for any of this to come out rude or brash.

You need to go to Smugmug, Control Panel, Customize. At the bottom of Customize you will see Organize. You will need to create categories and sub-categories to work with your folder layout. You can pre-create your galleries ahead of time and designate that they show in the appropriate category and sub-category.
Ken74 is quite correct in his assessment.
To upload the images I prefer to use Send to SmugMug by Omar Shahine. It is simple to use and event simpler if you already have the galleries created and the correct gallery settings applied.

Thanks for your help. I will check it in the morning. can't keep my eye's open any longer. Someone told me you could only go 3 folders deep in Smug mug so I thought I had it figured out again...lol and spent all night setting up the galleries in the Smug Mug publishing section of lightroom and when I went to publish what I had done it mixed it all up but 1 gallery and I did them all the same. It took some sub folders and put them in other gallerys... so going to have to start from scratch in the morning..grrr

I'm not sure you can do what you're wanting if I am understanding the question. I think you're wanting to see a navigation structure in Smugmug the same as you have it in you first post. Example:
2010 ASCA Nationals -> Agility -> Altered -> Best Of Breed -> Bitches -> 6-9
On Smugmug you can have Categories, sub-categories and galleries.
Category->Sub-Category->Gallery
That said, you can have a category called "2010 ASCA Nationals" with a subcat called "Agility/Altered/Best Of Breed/Bitches" and then galleries 6-9, 9-12 etc.
As stated before, I would pre-make these subcats and then upload your collections to galleries.
