Burining 1000 Wedding Photos on multiple DVDs...? - 10-18-2010, 11:00 AM

I have a problem. After longer (three day) weddings I have tons of pictures to burn. Sometimes I burn 6-7 DVD's.
It is slow to copy and paste files into the burning software for each individual DVD 6-8 times.
I am just wondering whether there is a way to burn 2000 images on 10 DVD's without individually selecting the files for each individual DVD. I am thinking some software where I specify the file folder and it just asks me to put in the next DVD into the burner...

Thanks,
Otto

Roxio does it.....select all the files you want to burn, Roxio will tell you how many dvd's you need and prompt you to place a new dvd in the drive when ready.

It is for windows and mac

Just another option. Why not buy a Dual Layer/ Blu-Ray burner?

Kind of related because there is less (no) disc swapping... Blu-Ray media is becoming much more reasonable for offloading images; just over $1 for 25GB. Burners are under $200.

I presume Blu-Ray isnt an option because not everyone will have a player/ps3. DVD is pretty much the standard in both the living room and computer realm.

As Rson mentioned, Roxio will do what you need.

It almost costs the same and I know what you mean on burning cds. It takes forever to do. I just shot a wedding with 1500 pictures. Well, the bride's cd player in her computer didn't work. LOL I wasn't going to tell her she needed her computer fixed.
I was stumped now what do I do? So I took a flash card that was 4G's, transferred a copy to the card, which was done in five minutes, ran by her house to put in her laptop. While waiting we were able to talk about that day and wrap things up. It was nothing for me to go over there. The bride only lives 10 minutes from me.
Or let's say you want to do this by mail. Find a sale on flash cards $10 each and do it that way.
It sure beats wondering if you gave her this set or a certain picture and oh and which cd was that on?

Yup. I wasn't even thinking about giving them to clients. I had offloading/backup on my mind. Sorry. (Although there are a lot of other Blu-Ray players beside the PS3 out there now.)

If it's for the client, you my want to deliver them on a flash drive.
Also, you may want to resize the photos before giving them. If you resize a photo at 3000x2000(or less even) as a level 9 jpeg the client can print them just fine and the file will be less than 2mb.
Giving a wedding client 8 DVD's of huge files that they will never print larger then 5x7 and brings their computer to a crawl is not always the best idea.

My nero doesn't want to do it. It asks for a larger DVD...:(

Nero might not support that feature.

what OS do you have?

Have you tried the 'create gift CD' option in picasa? It allows you to select as many images as you want, and will tell you how many discs you need before it burns.

it also puts an slideshow player on the CD as well. :)

definitely give picasa a try, even if it is just for the 'gift cd' option.
