Exclamation Adobe Camera Raw Beta Expired- Update? - 10-19-2010, 01:13 AM

I've been getting this error for quite some time now. I don't open a lot of RAW images with CS4, because I usually just use LR. But once in a while I open one in CS4 and this is the message I get. I want it to go away. How do I do this?
Yes, I've updated to the latest ACR updates via Adobe.com. I think I even posted this problem on here before, but this time I have a screen shot. Help Please!

I have the same issue and read the only way to get it to go away is to upgrade to CS5.

Yeah, Adobe is known for shafting you into buying a upgrade in order to use ACR on a newer camera. They did it with CS4 and now CS5.

Yes, I purchased the upgrade from CS3, and not that long ago either. It was maybe a year ago, a few months before CS5 came out. Adobe sucks again!

It is threads like this that make me glad I don't use any Adobe products. Everything I use for this type of thing is open source.

But at the same time, what would we do without Adobe? :)
I haven't looked into open source equivalents of Photoshop or Lightroom, but I find it hard to believe there exists something as polished and efficient as the mainstream programs (CS'x', LR'x', Aperture etc.).
I'm always for learning new things though!

Yeah, that's about my only issue with Adobe at the moment. At least I have LR, which I do not have to upgrade every time I get a new camera.

The thing is though, I don't have modern cameras. I use a 5D Classic and a 40D. They should be supported. Easily.

if I remember correctly, if you installed the CS4 beta, you had to uninstall it before installing a purchased version. if you had ever installed the cs4 beta, you may have to uninstall all csx products and re-install hte pruchased copy from disk.

If all else fails, one workaround is to convert your raw files to DNG format using Adobe's free DNG Converter. You lose no file information or quality in the process.

Oh, they are different. Not better or worse really - just different. If you want to check them out, you can look for digiKam (LR) and GIMP (PS) as the main ones, but there are many others as well.
