I've used them all ..... and each has its pros and cons. Photomatix is the most widely used, but Dynamic Photo HDR is very good as well. And there is a newcomer called HDR Efex Pro by Nik that looks promising:

Nik Software, Inc. | HDR Efex Pro

All of them allow you to download and try the software for free for 15 to 30 days. I'd suggest you do so and see which one of them you like the best.

Photomatix is cool, I've used it for quite a while now.
But now that I've downloaded the free trial to Nik HDR Efex Pro, I'll be switching to that.

Anyone interesting in posting their manual workflow for HDR conversion? It would be interesting to see.

For the budget challenged Lightroom 2 & newer users:

LR/Enfuse - Blend Multiple Exposures Together in Adobe Lightroom

A plugin for Lightroom 2 and newer using Enfuse. A donation ($10?) gets you the whole package. Best part: Natural looking blended exposures. NO TONE MAPPING! NO HDR "LOOK".

Enjoy.
