Photoshop question - 10-20-2010, 01:09 PM

I'm using Photoshop Elements 7.0 (I know, but it was free), and I can't seem to figure out whether I can use my RAW files or not. Perhaps I'm just getting frustrated and quitting before I find the answer, but does anyone has any insight? There is an item for RAW under the plug-ins menu, but...Is Elements 7 just not capable of editing RAW files?

It's possible that your version of Adobe Camera Raw is older than your camera. You might need to update ACR.

If you have a D3000 then PSE 7 will not open the raw files. The camera is to new for the version of ACR.

Once again the old film guy is right.
Can't ACR be updated or do the updates only work with Phoroshop CS X and/or Lightroom Y?

Thought you knew already old man :)

Adobe Culls its ACR Versions. 4.x worked until CS3 then version 5.x worked for CS4 we are now on version 6.x that works with CS5.

PSE 7 can use version 5.x of the ACR and here is the link:

Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Windows : Camera Raw 5.7 update

To bad it doesn't look like the D3000 is on there because the latest version was released in April.

It is Adobe's nice way of saying "you need to upgrade."
