CS5 content aware, not impressed.... - 11-08-2010, 06:45 PM

Well, I heard so many great things about this and so far, I am not impressed. I've only tried it a handful of times so far, but each time I have used it, it looks terrible!!! Adding elements that I don't want, blurring really bad. So, I'm not sure if it's user error or ???? Anyone else having or had this problem and were you able to correct it?

What kinds of miracles are you expecting? It's a decent tool but, it's good for small details not revealing Olivia Munn's assets...

I use it for small blemishes and touchups, but sometimes it really can completely remove things!

well, I'm not trying to remove clothes, ha ha ha, and I wasn't expecting miracles either. I have tried it on small items, electrical sockets, small tree limbs...

I've had pretty good luck with it so far. I cleaned up an uneven sky in a pano in about 5 seconds.

I think it works a little better than the old cloning, but nothing miraculous. (I haven't had to remove any wires from brick walls yet like in the tuts). I find I have better success using my old methods a lot of times though.

I was really hoping the smart selection tool would be great, but I still can't select out sparks very well even from a clean background. That's a pretty hard one though (sparks aren't solid and they're glowy), but it sure would be nice.

try using the cw in smaller increments. i have used it quite a few times and first i was trying to do the whole fix in one bite, but i found if you use it smaller chunks it seems to work better. no expert here just guy trying to get help where he can!

I use it a lot and it does things that would take a lot more time without it. Yes, sometimes I have to go back and remove artifacts and even close some things back to reality. But it is still a timesaver.
