Lightroom 2 question(s) - 11-16-2010, 11:19 AM

I'm fairly new to using LR2 (like a dummy, purchased 2 right before 3 came out )...

I have uploaded a football season's worth and many photo sessions' worth of photos and I've noticed Lightroom is moving terribly slow.

Dumb Question: Should I clean out my Lightroom library occasionally?

Dumb Question 2: If I delete the photos from my library on LR, it won't effect the files containing the same photos on my computer, correct?

Here are some threads discussing your topic for the first question. Many of the techniques for LR3 still pertain to LR2. Hope these help.

You have to be careful when you talk about deleting and removing in LR. If you remove a photo or folder in LR then the original file will be unaffected in your hard drive. If you delete a photo in LR it will ask you if you want to also delete the actual file on your computer too.

Did you check your LR 2 date of purchase? If it really was "right before" LR 3 was released, you may be allowed to upgrade to LR 3 for FREE!
When deleting photos in Lightroom a dialog box opens. Your choices are:
Sonny was first. Can't hurt to repeat.
Delete from catalog/Retain on disk
Delete from Catalog AND delete from disk.
