HDR Style Failed.. - 11-18-2010, 02:44 PM

Well early this year I looked and read and found many different plugins for CS2, that would help me get a HDR style.

By far none of the plugins looked any good, so my next step was just readding up on tutorials and working with filters and just doing it my self.

After a few trys and a few months later here are my results.

By far i didnt get what I really wanted but the second image of the baseball girl is a favorite style of mine that I now use with many of my sport photos.

Example 1

Example 2

Let me know what you guys think and show me your results if you have tried the HDR styles on your own..

If you use Lightroom, LR/Enufse Plugin works. It's natural. Reads RAW files. Cheap. Easy.

These, mostly the first one, look more like a dave hill effect, which there isn't really a plugin for. I've been trying to get that look for a while from quite a few different tutorials, etc. They all only sorta look right. Any "easy" plugin attempt looks terrible imo. I think the best way is to watch a few of them and just formulate your own version, whatever looks right to you. Most importantly, I think the more time you spend on it, the better it will look so I think just learning how to do it by hand will ultimately turn out the best results.

Thats what happen here. I just kept playing with it. As stated above I just ended up developing a style that I liked and that some of the clients like as well.. such as the second one.

but the first image was proabbly the best i could come up too a dave hill style..

I've found I'm much more successful when I just put on the headphones and dodge/burn till the cows come home. I don't end up with any of those weird artifacts or odd outlining that comes with some of those fitlers/plugs.

HDR virtually never looks great on portraits.

I'll have to give Enfuse a workout in portrait mode. I can see where it might not work.

I really like the first one....i say keep trying to apply those results to some more work and see what you get.

I know its not what you wanted but nonetheless its still really cool. You should show that shot to the person who is in it
