i didn't mean to switch to a mac, im not a fan of Apple, i just remember all the people telling him to switch to apple, and find this post a little funny.... i also realize its probably a software issue, not a box issue.

Yeah... but its been absolutely flawless until now. And out of everything on my iMac... LR and PS have been the biggest pains in the ass..... and they've given me the most trouble. Its just always something with those two programs.

The check for PS updates is under "Help" in the top menu bar (at least it is for CS5)

As far as the permissions repair it's in applications > utilities >disk utility. Click on your drive and "repair permissions".

I now remember your problem happened to me once. Reinstalling LR fixed it. They seemed to lose their link to each other.

thankfully you rarely use those (insert sarcasm) (does it have to do with the fact that it's not apple?)

I have no trouble switching from LR to PS and back again using Canon RAW files. Maybe you need to switch RAW file formats??????????? Grinning.

Catalogs are separate files - should be able to point LR right back to them. Don't dump the .Irdata or .Ircat files

There is that option. Or never leave film. However, after analog to digital conversion, we encounter some of the same problems with software. Reading TIFF files is never a problem. Working with 32Mp to 79Mp files can be interesting.

Ok. I tried the 'repair permissions' thing, didn't work. Then I went to my 'finder' and deleted the LR program (left catalogs in tact in another location). After I cleared my trash can, I opened my downloads folder and re-installed LR. It still isn't working...

The weird thing is, when I reinstalled LR - my identity plate, catalogs, presets, and everything else was in tact. It was like the program had never been deleted. Did I do something wrong or is this normal?

Check for updated for both Ps and Lr. Should be under Help on their respective top menu bars.

Chris,
Try a software free form of visual expression.
