Question LR to PS Plugin... - 12-19-2010, 08:37 AM

What is the name of the plug in that will allow me to click 'edit in cs4' in LR and open the picture in CS4?

I used to be able to do it, until I had to un-install/re-install CS4 after the last Mac OSX upgrade. Now I can click 'edit in cs4' in LR, photoshop will open, but it will not import the RAW file from LR. After cs4 opens... nothing. I have to manually go to LR, export the file as a .tiff, and then manually open it in cs4.

I used to have the plugin that allowed me to do it, but I either can't find it on these two drives, or it got deleted during the uninstall.

Any help is appreciated.

I have that set already. What is happening, or not happening rather, is LR is not converting the file to a tiff before sending it to PS. PS can't read the NEF file so it doesn't open.

This is not a plugin it is a function of LR. I would reinstall LR.

Are you certain that it isn't a plugin?

Ohhh Please, you mean a PC with different operating system? Ever think that the software in question isn't a Apple product? It is just as slow on a Mac as a PC and has just as much issue.

under Edit>preferences

there is a tab called external editor.

You can set the default and add a second. it also allows you to select file format out of lightroom (tif, PSd etc)

This is where you select what you question about. If it isn't there, I would repair the install.

I have it set just as you say. External editor is CS4, the file format is set as a tiff if I am not mistaken.

The odd thing is that if I right click, 'edit in cs4' with older photos in older catalogs it works. It's just with new photos that I find it not working.

After the PS reinstall, did you run the updates?
Also the old standy-by "repair permissions"
