Aftermarket Black and White software - 12-22-2010, 11:04 AM

I just updraded to windows 7 and I no longer have the use of a black and white conversion software package that I used. It is no longer supported by the programmer out of the UK. So I am looking for a new conversion software.

I see that Nik Software has one and I have read the sales info. Looks pretty nice. Its SilverEfex Pro. Does anyone have this software? Can I get a review?

Thanks in advance.

In the meantime, if you have Photoshop, you can try these actions:

Digital Darkroom @ The Light's Right Studio

Digital Darkroom @ The Light's Right Studio

Sample. RAW to Lightroom 3 to Photoshop and the B&W conversion action above and back to Lightroom for final tweaking. A lot easier to do than explain.

Very nice tool, lots of presets and you can save your own styles as well. I love it.

I personally prefer Alien Skin's Exposure 3. It very closely matches many stock B&W films. Give it a go.

Thanks I will check that one out. I am gonna miss my image factory pro. Its ashame that guy stopped developing that software. It still works in 32 bit mode so if anyone is using it and thinking of going 64 bit, keep that in mind.
