Capture One Pro 6 - 01-22-2011, 08:20 AM

Is anyone who has extensive experience with Lightroom played with the new Capture One Pro 6? I downloaded the 30-day demo and have been watching their video tutorials and it can do some REALLY nice things. The interface seems way better than when i used it back in version 3... much more like Lightroom now.

I've already seen a few things that I like better than LR, but what I'm wondering is not what it CAN do... but what it CAN'T do in relation to LR3. What would I end up missing about LR3? I know I would find out over time, but would like to know what others have experienced.

Thanks!

I've been using C1 for a while now (on the P45 files) and I probably should concentrate on using it for more than a raw developer. If you dig into their excellent tutorials, you'll find it can produce some amazing images and dig detail out of many perhaps otherwise lost shots. It would take a concerted effort for me to replace CS5 and my plug-ins, but I think it's well worth investigating. Since I hand retouch every image, the bulk processing features don't do much for me.

I haven't upgraded from 5 yet. I'll most likely do it for at least the digital back version I use at the studio. For home editing, I do have pro, but haven't felt like spending the $69 until I'm shooting again...

Thanks, Scott.

Ya, their tutorials are really impressing me.
I downloaded the trial last night and have been messing with it and there are definitely some really nice features. Some things will take getting used to but it's much more like lightroom now than it used to be. It also seems to be the better raw processor for Leica files.

My workflow is always Lightroom --> Photoshop --> Save final files. That wouldn't change other than swapping lightroom out with C1. But even though the tutorials look good, I'm looking for those little things that you might not notice until you are deep in it. One thing that does seem to be missing that I can't figure out is being able to search all your images at the same time (by keyword, meta data, etc) instead of one session at a time. Not that I do this often really if at all, but that's the kind of thing I'm talking about.
