Photoshop Elements - saving jpg for printing - 02-28-2011, 07:58 PM

I'm sure someone knows the answer to this ...

I tend to forget and leave RAW on for everyday family pictures that my wife wants to send for printing. These shots don't require processing beyond saving as jpg. Since these stack with the RAW is there a way I can move just the jpg photos to a folder to burn or send for printing.

I use PSE 8.

Thanks in advance!

Why not use the "Process multiple files" option and convert the raw images to jpgs. Options include Auto levels, contrast, auto color and sharpening. It is under the file menu. You can choose where you want the converted files to reside so they will be separate from the RAW images.
Just a thought.

You don't indicate which Canon you are using. I have an XSi. One of the settings in the menu is for Raw plus Jpeg files. I think the setting is 4L and it is the topmost choice that will show in the LCD display.
Click the shutter and you get both a RAW and a jpeg file. I think that will solve your problem. I use the jpegs for previews and the RAW files for editing.

MT Stringer - Thanks for the information that is what I was looking for. I save the RAW to jpg but they always saved to the same location. Is there a way in PSE 8 that allows you to only view jpg images and/or RAW?

Buddha - In answer to your question I have a 50D. I know the feature to which you are are referring. However, my main interest is macro (nature) and wildlife so I noramlly shoot only in RAW. When shooting day-to-day family photos I forget to switch over. I would rather not have two versions of the same shot if not needed - and most family photos don't require touchup. But, thanks for the information I do appreciate it.

MT Stringer - I did as you suggested and did a few photos to test. I set them to save to another folder but when I went there they weren't there. I went back to make sure I didn't make an error of where I assigned them too. No error - no photos.

Any suggestions?

Hey Mike,
Here is a screen grab of how I set up to process an entire folder. Should work for you as well.
Hope this helps.
Mike
