Someone was asking today if the Nik package was worth the money. Its expensive but I have found it to be very good and worth it to me. I like to to experiement in PP so YMMV but it does many useful things. the following are examples of one picture.

1. SOOC ( some exposure adjustment in RAW)

2. Viveza (localized adustments via control points)

3. Color Efex Pro3 (Monday morning filter on top of previous edit #2)

All of this took me no more that 15 minutes to do. I think the results are good. I encourage trailing the package for 15 days. All the features work. The videos on the Nik website are informative and the webinars are free.

Check it out.

I agree, the Nik software makes post processing a bit faster.

Here are a couple of images I modified with Color EFEX Pro with Pro Contrast.

I wouldn't post process without them (Color Efex & Pro Sharpener).

I originally bought the Complete Collection mainly for Viveza but found that I use Color Efex much more. Sharpener Pro has been the best method of sharpening I have ever used. Noise reduction in Define has also been great. I really like that I can selectively limit the amount of noise reduction done within the photo.

I have the whole suite. Viveza is my least used. The new Silver Effex 2 is probably my favorite.

Would there be any benefit to buying the Photoshop compatible version over the Lightroom version?

In hindsight, I wish I bought the Photoshop version as I like to use masking and layers.... they can be more forgiving and easier to adjust. With the lightroom version you would need to save each file individualy, open them in Photoshop before combining them.... more clutter in your file folders.

Yes Kyle there are good reasons to buy the PS version. Layers, and mask mainly.

A side note, I retook the webinar for color efex pro 3 last night to see something I saw the first time. Well, other than the explination of the buttons it was not a repeat. All different photos with all different filters. So you can learn something different if you sit through multi sessions.

Oh and I asked about the thing I wanted to see again and Dan gladly added time to the webinar and showed me.
