LR3 help - 03-27-2011, 10:23 AM

I've been using LR3 just fine for the last week. Same camera, same card. Today I tried to download photos and LR3 is telling me it can't read the files. Any idea what could have happened over night?

Frustrated!

Beth

Just tried one...it doesn't work either. I can tell you that LR3 decided to take on a life of it's own last night after I'd been working on it for about five hours. Do you suppose I should try to reinstall?

Big IF, if your computer is Windows and did updates, some windows dll files got replaced. You can run SFC, and for your version of windows, google Win "x" sfc to learn how. "System File Check" runs to find all missing "required" files in windows. Updates are the worst culprit for blasting them.

Interesting. I assume you have rebooted and all that stuff. Have you also tried to optimize your catalog? I guess if none of that stuff worked, yes reinstall.

You know...it just did an Adobe update this morning when I booted up. I'll reboot again and do a system check if it still doesn't work. Man I hope it works because that card has a family portrait shoot I did this morning! YIKES!!!

I don't know if this is correct, but I always copy files to my hard drive themImport to LR. Been working for me since LR1 Beta. Faster too.

Just an FYI, secretly the guy who built your computer has it mirroring the file store drive.....So you have 2 copy's automatically WHEN you save to the "File Store" Drive.

The files are on my hard drive...LR3 just can't read them. I'll have to contact Adobe today. I'm sure it has something to do with the automatic update that came through yesterday morning.

Is it possible that they are already imported & in the LR catalog? LR is telling you there is nothing to import, not unreadable?
All of this is difficult to troubleshoot unless we are actually doing the operation on your computer.

If it were only that easy....LR3 made a folder but the folder is empty. It's saying it can't read the files. I'm at work now so I'll have to contact Adobe tonight after I get home to get some help. I've also tried reinstalling LR3 and that didn't work either. I may have to uninstall and reinstall...hope not though!
