Interesting plugin. This will definitely be an option for those photogs that do not have Photoshop.

Come on, Chris...you're stealing my thunder, lol. I posted this the other day and received no love at all.

I'm pretty excited about the product. Loooong overdue/.

I've been trying the free application of Perfect Layers and it looks great, though I'm in the very early stages of trials.
However, at $159 per copy, I not so certain. I would love to have this product, but since I already have CS5, I'm not so sure. I would probably pay something in the neighborhood of $100. Hopefully, OnOne will reconsider on the price, but I won't hold my breath.

Just curious.

If you already have CS5 why would you even consider this product? Perfect Layers is a 3rd party plugin that creates a PSD file of all your layers. Comparing the two, CS5 is by far the more powerful.

Photoshop Elements would be a smarter buy. Retail price at Best Buy is $99, but it's on sale for $69. Elements offers more features for $50-$80 less than Perfect Layers.

I agree with you, $159 is way too much for a 3rd party plugin. If I owned neither Elements or Photoshop then Perfect Layers would make sense at a cost of about $40-70.

If this product was something that could be built into LR then the price might be worth it. Unfortunately, Adobe will never allow this.

Matt has an article about Perfect Layers and some of the comments are interesting.

I have been wanting Layers in Lightroom since I first started using it. Sometimes I'll be working on an image and have made a few strokes with the adjustment brush, and then wanted to remove them later on. But to do that you have to delete the whole set of strokes for that brush. I was hoping Lighttroom would come out with this in an update. And instead of saving as a .PSD file, they should be able to do it with virtual copies and stuff, saving room.

After initial excitement, I have cooled off on this product. Seems to be some bugs, at least on my trial version.

If you are using the brush tool in Lightroom, you can do selective erasing. There are A-B-Erase options for the brush. Select the dot/pin for the stroke you used and select Erase. Now you can remove the stroke (or part of the stroke) you need to by brushing over the area to be erased. This can be done at any time.
