As spending big money, I own a pair of Nikkor lenses that I will put up against ANY lens out there. One is a 50/1.4 and the other is an 85/2.0. Total for the pair: < $300. I have others as well, but they cost a few dollars more. Good OOF rendering doesn't have to cost a fortune.

I agree that Topaz makes some great quality products overall. Their noise reduction plugin is the best I've used.

The selective bokeh works, just takes some masking with the brush in the plugin. I need to experiment more.

Just a quick try:

the tree is in the foreground, I masked it for close to maximum effect. It looks funny cause I did only part of the photo to show the change.

I think it might be worth the $50, I have 29 more days to decide.

Yes, I can and I do have both the Nikkor f/1.8 and the Nikkor f/1.4....but they are not always on the camera when a portrait opportunity shows itself.

I tried using the masking feature in Topaz Lens Effects and I was able to achieve this:
