Loosing Sharpness??? - 05-12-2011, 03:32 PM

I am loosing a lot of sharpness and detail in photos posted to Flickr and Smugmug vs what I see in Lightroom. I have attempted to save for the web in CS5 but even that does not make a difference in what I see. Is this just a limitation to the browser (Internet Explorer) or is there a setting I need to tweak. I am looking at files at 100% their native saved size (1024 on the long end). Colors are true but the sharpness not so much.

what size are you uploading to Flickr/Smugmug? Are you using the collections for flickr/smugmug or are you using a 3rd party plug-in in lightroom?

if you look in the sports section for the dragon boat race, i uploaded directly from lightroom 3 via the collections to smugmug at full res

I am uploading directly through Lightroom. The photo is resized before publishing to the web sites at 1024 as the long edge. I use Nik Software for resize and final sharpening (Lightroom export to file folder). I am viewing original 1024 size in Flickr and Smug Mug when comparing to Lightroom file also at 1024.

For grins, can you upload one at full res to see how it compares?

D'oh!!!! I found out what I was doing wrong. My browser was set to 125% instead of 100% which severely degraded the image quailty. So embarrased
