What you are describing sounds like "photo shows in Lightroom (catalog)", but the photo was deleted some other way, now Lightroom cannot find it.

If you restored the photo "with the same name" back to a location on disk, highlight the photo in Lightroom, go to the Library menu at top, then "Find Missing Photos". Browse to the photo on disk, and click it, then OK.

If the restored image isn't in the original location, or doesn't have the original file name, try one the methods below to add it back to the catalog:

You can use the import function to import a single image. Open the lightroom catalog (file) you want to add the photo to. Select File -> Import, browse to the location of the recovered image, select just the single image, make sure "copy to new location" is selected, then import.

Alternatively, you can manually copy the recovered image directly into the folder structure where your other images are located. Open the lightroom catalog, go to the library tab. In the folders view, select the folder you just copied the image to. Right click, select "Synchronize Folder". Lightroom should find the image you just copied. Click ok to add it back to the catalog.

Ok..maybe I didn't communicate all this correctly...(what's new!!)

I have a lot of photo's in one folder from a dance group. I go through and delete all the bad photos. Then go through and pick the ones I am going to process. So one of the ones, I want to process I accidentally deleted. So I just want that ONE. If I try to import, I usually get ALL of the ones I deleted...I want to be able to pick just that certain one, and add it back to the original group.

Does that make sense? uh oh...bad sign..the angel icon will not work!!!

In lightroom:
Click File
Import File
when the dialog box pops up select the directory where your picture is in
Click deselect all
Click on the one photo you want
Click import

Rich is correct except...
After the import of the single photo, you will see the Library screen with that one photo in it.
Go to the left panel and select the original folder. You should then see ALL the photos including the one you just imported.
Personally, I go thorugh a large batch and pick stars or flags to indicate the photos I want to work on. then I pick a filter that turns off all the star or flag photos and delete what is left on the screen. Turn the filter off and BAM! all of my selected photos appear.

You need an assitant. Or a Lightroom backroom gnome like the other guy is looking for.
Good luck!
