Fontfont.com, Fontbureau.com, Myfonts.com

These sites offer a range of fonts from (as far as I'm aware anyway) trustworthy sources. Some fonts are free, the majority come with a price attached to them.

I personally only use a small variety of fonts, mostly Helvetica Neue, American Typewriter, Frutiger or Bell Gothic, which came pre-installed on my Apple G4 Mac. These are all timeless classics and are easily legible.
