Over cooked, or processed just right? - 07-10-2008, 01:26 PM

Over cooked, or processed just right? I was revisiting some of the shots I took during the b-day dinner and then I started tickering. I obviously like the second image, but I was wondering how other people feel. So how is the post edited image?

Anything I should do differently?

How about very slightly "overcooked?" She looks a little plastic without any skin characteristics, but only a little. Good show.

I'll go with that too...slightly on the "Barbie" side. Of course she will probablylove it. The eyes are nice and sparkley. and I like the saturation. :-)

Agree...maybe a bit over done, but I've seen (and done) worse!

Overall, I think you improved some things here. You brought the image noise down significantly, especially in the background. However, if you're going to smooth out her facial features, I'd seriously consider doing some brightening of her features, especially the dark lines under the eyes. For such a great smile, the darkness of her features seems to bring the whole thing down a little for me. Also, I'd consider cropping this shot a little closer; the logo on the shirt doesn't seem to jibe with the mood of the image. Good work, but I'd go a little farther with the specific touch-ups.

I like the second one much better...I'd say something about the shirt but don't want to start any political arguments...Ben

I think the only person whose opinion matters in this case is hers, followed closely by yours. From my perspective I think you did a very good job, I like it.

For me, I like the skin smoothing technique you have done. Is it a plug in you used? If so which one? i am looking for a portrait plug in but there are SO MANY choices heeheh

I agree with less smoothing on her face and personally I would like it just a smidge darker. I like how you did get rid of the noise.
Good work

I think the noise reduction is a bit too far - she looks 'plastic-y'. I'd leave more texture in her skin, but get rid of the 'bags' under her eyes and add a vignette to 'pop' her from the background. If I was going to go 'full out' I might use the liquify tool and open her eye on the bottom lid a bit to balance them without the 'under eye lines.'

Just an quick play:
