Cs3 & lr 2.7 - 05-30-2011, 09:32 PM

Hello,

I am using CS3 and Lightroom 2.7. I have a Canon 7D and shoot RAW a large percentage of the time. The problem I have come across is when I try and pass a file off to CS3 from LR, I get get an error. The error message states that the operation requires Camera Raw 5.7 and latest Camera Raw available for CS3 is 4.6. My current version of Camera Raw is 4.0 but even if I go to 4.6 it still doesn't get me where I need to be.

Am I just stuck - maybe having to convert to DNG? Or is there a work-around?

Thanks,
Rick

Convert to Tiff, edit in CS3

You cannot use 7d raw files in CS3

I discovered that LR 3.4 allows you to pick from a list of ACR versions. Perhaps you should update to LR 3.4 and then work backwards to CS3?????????

Thanks. I'll do that for the time being.

At this point if I chose one to upgrade it would be LR. Since CS5 has been out a while, I think I will wait for CS6 to make that upgrade. Thanks.

I tried that backwards ACR thing last night. I'm not sure it did anything. Don't take my word for it working with your camera and CS3.

Yeah the ACR settings in Lightroom are more like profiles from previous versions of ACR and not they actual version. Long and short is CS3 does not and cannot open his raw files since ACR isn't written for his camera.

Actually his version of 2.7 is fine to read the raw files. Version 2.x had support for the 7d since version 2.6. It is cs3 that cannot read the file format.
