Might try GIMP their are some Plug-ins for it

Your Canon camera came with stitching software. At least every digital camera that I have purchased did.
Microsoft ICE is GREAT! Windoze only. Not for the Apple crowd.

If you have a PC, try ICE. It reads RAW files. Very cool indeed.
