Cool Lightroom : Landscape & portrait mode???????? - 06-03-2011, 02:05 PM

If I have a rotating monitor (landscape-portrait), does Lightroom rotate to match? If so, where is the switch to make it work?

Thanks!

Once you figure it out, give this a look.

Post Monitor in Portrait mode. - 06-04-2011, 10:22 AM

Alright Wayne, It works. Looks weird as all hell, but it works.

The "switch" is in your monitor setup, not in the program. When I change the orientation from landscape to portrait, the system rotated the primary monitor to portrait and left the secondary in landscape, which matchs the two monitors orientation.

edited: quick warning! Change the monitor orientation in the software before rotating the monitor. :-)

Thanks Ken. I'll check it out. I only have one monitor. Hope it works the same way.

Actually, it might be simpler and easier to rotate the image in Lightroom. The menu panels would be funky. I mainly want to do this to maximixe the image for a final evaluation.

ps: How do you like the Dell 2408 monitor? Looking at Dell monitors prompted my question.

It's been a great monitor for me. Lightroom supports using two monitors. If you get a new main monitor and use your second monitor in portrait orientation, you will be able to see the image you are working on in Full screen view on it at the same time your main is in landscape orientation.

Greetings -

Can one specify which monitor the controls are in?
(i.e. - So that one can have the editing controls in the portrait monitor when viewing landscape, & vice versa.)

Thanks,

- Richard

This article notes that Lightroom does not color manage the second monitor, while this one notes that it is used for 1:1 previews, color, tone, etc.

Bottom line is.., No. You can't move your menu controls to the second monitor.
