Possibly outsourcing a headswap job - 06-16-2011, 06:34 PM

I am not sure if I will be outsourcing yet, but I have a client who needs a head swap. I can often do it but I am not sure about this one; I'll try it first and then decide.

The boy is looking to one side and the one she wants will likely have him looking forward, so the neck position and shoulders will likely have to be copied from another image.

I have never hired anyone to do photoshop work before. Have any recommendations so I can have a back-up if I need one? Thanks!

Hi Dawn,

I would be interested in this. As long as you have another image with similar lighting and the position of the face is nearly the same, you should be able to do this. If not, I would certainly be willing to get it done for you.

I swap heads, etc. on large groups all the time since you are always getting someone blinking, looking away, or something else.

Let me know if you need me.

-Fred

I use retouchup.com for all of this kind of editing that I don't really want to take the time to perfect right now. They will do headswaps for $5 per image, I think. (Their pricing system is really simple.) I charge the client a design fee for this kind of editing (I include standard portrait retouching, which for me includes removing blemishes, enhancing eyes and teeth, softening skin, and charge for any more involved editing) so the cost is covered plus a little bit of profit. I've sent them a number of images and they've all looked great. They are fast - I usually have my images back in 12 hours or less (usually closer to 6-8 hours). They even give you your first 10 edited images for free! I upload the image and I am DONE. Good luck...
