If so, do you think that the song playing affects the creative decisions on the photos you're working on? Just curious. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

I think this would vary from person to person as I use music help me to isolate me from any distractions with the exception of anything visual, for example, smoke.
I'm sure there is a study that is floating around that creativity is enhanced depending on the type of music you listen to.

David, in my opinion I would say yes. I do generally listen to music while editing and try to vary the type of music I'm listening to for that very reason.

I always have something playing from Netflix. Be it anime, documentary, or tv series.

Almost always have something playing in the background while on the computer. Especially when editing photos. Helps block out distractions. They know who they are. :)
Additionally, I generally use the iPod in shuffle mode rather than iTunes on the computer as I want all that lovely computing power to myself.

I was working through a large batch of photos when I made this post, waiting for a time-consuming operation of some sorts. I had iTunes playing in the background on shuffle. As the music genre changed, I noticed that my mood was affected and I assumed that my creative choices were altered. Interesting stuff.

Normally I have a pretty good idea where I want an image to go regardless if there is music or not or the type of music. I do, however, almost have music playing during editing.

a similar story... I used to play a particular racing game a lot... anyway, one day I was driving my real car and one of the songs came on the radio that I normally heard during the racing game. I didn't notice at first, but my driving had become a lot more aggressive... but I digress. I always have music on when I process images. TV is totally off, some commercials are very distracting.

Yes... and the funny thing is the type of music determines how I edit and the outcome :)

Yeah, I often listen to music appropriate to the session. Like, if I'm editing a senior session, I might listen to top 40. If I'm editing a wedding, I might listen to classical. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
