how is this different from setting a viewer (Picasa is but one) as the default viewer for the RAW file (.CR2 in my case)? Other than not having a separate s/w pkg loaded of course.

I like to use Windows explorer to quickly go through my pictures. And I am also on Windows 7 64bit, and they have the native raw viewer...

But then again I bought Fast Viewer codec 2 years ago because they had a 64bit windows explorer RAW codec.
