is adobe elements a program that is between lightroom and cs5??

i have been using lightroom i like it but the 30 day trial is up. for me cs5 is overkill and the download for elements i tried like 3 times now and it wont work..

for most part i only use the basic stuff on lightroom fill light, black, brightness ect..

any preferances of one program to another??

IMO Elements is the teaser to Lightroom and LR is a feeder for Photoshop(if needed).

I dont believe elements have the capabilities to have plug-ins like Lightroom. Lightroom3 has lens correction, which I dont believe Elements has. The data management LR does is a nice to have as well.

Lightroom3 can be had for 198 via the Amazon Store link: Pixtus.com: Software: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3

Lightroom and Full blown Photoshop are wonderful, but Picasa, IrfanView, or other free alternatives may be all you may need.

Elements is the entry-level program to editing, thus it's cheap price. But for all you're wanting to do, it's probably enough. I've been using PSE6 for a couple of years and love it. You can download lots of freebie filters and effects for it. And it does have lens correction under the filters tab.

I too am trying out LR right now. I have CS3 on my laptop but mostly use the PSE6 on my desktop. Lots of options.

My view of Lightroom 3: If I can't do it with LR3-LR/Enfuse Plugin-Microsoft ICE, I don't need to do it.

That's my story & I'm sticking to it.
