Question Photo Size - 08-05-2011, 08:21 AM

I'm getting some shots ready for sale as framed art and I noticed something that doesn't make me too happy. I shoot in Raw+Sjpeg but used to shoot in straight Ljpeg. The prints I'm going to have framed will be 16x20 - or that's what I had wanted... The shots I took in just jpeg are sized at something like 34"x54" but the Raw files are substantially smaller, around 13"x19."

Question #1: Is there something I should be doing to the Raw files post processing to make them larger?

Question #2: If I print smaller than 16x20 files at 16x20, would they come out grainy and/or pixelated?

I work with PS CS3 and use the PS Raw file conversion. I shoot with Canon cameras. And I resize my files' resolution from 241 to 300 pixels.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

What are the pixel dimensions of the RAW files?
Not DPI, PPI or inches but actual dimensions(like 4800 x 2xxx).

That comes out to 15.84" x 10.56" @ 300dpi. But you should be able to print that fine at 16 x 20.
Does the pinter want you to resize them to 300dpi or can you just send the full size image?

Then just crop to 16 x 20 and resize to 300dpi. They should print fine.

I haven't posted them for sale yet. They're going to go up on my website though, so I'm sure it would take quite a while for them to sell.
