CS3 on a Mac: can you upgrade past 10.0.1? - 08-13-2011, 11:29 PM

I visited my sister yesterday and she has an iMac with PS CS3. I tried viewing 5D2 RAW files in bridge, and just opening them in Photoshop, and apparently they're not supported in 10.0.1. I remember when I had CS3, it would read my 5D2 files. I checked on google what the latest version of CS3 was, and I think it was 10.3. So, I clicked 'Help->Updates' and it says there are no updates available at this time. I don't know much about Macs, bur would a reinstall help?

Thanks in advance!

No offense but I call BS on CS3 reading your 5dII RAW files. The reason is that the minimum ACR that can read 5dII files is 5.2 and CS3 only supports ACR in the 4.X range. Therefore, you had to have at least CS4 or greater to read the 5dII files.

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras

There is nothing you can do to get CS3 to read the raw files of a 5dII.

You are probably right. Notice I said, "I remember when I had CS3..." I only admit guilt to having a horrible effing memory! Maybe I was still shooting with the XTi with CS3, I dunno. Jeeze, I'm too young for this!

Thanks, photogdude. What we wanted to do was just have a larger screen to preview pictures on. I took a bride out for a shoot and we wanted to just have a bigger look-see than just the back of the 5DII.
