More Flexible Lightroom to Photoshop Editing

What can you do in ACR that you can't do in Lightroom? Seems like ACR would be redundant.

The only thing you can't do in ACR is make selected adjustments like you can in lightroom. Other then that, they are virtually identical.

Everything ACR can do, Lightroom can do. The opposite, however, is not true. It would take way too much time to list all of the things that LR can do that ACR cannot.

LR is a far more complex package, but for many it can be overkill. Just depends on what the photographer needs to do.

what if you make a change to the original raw file in Lightroom? Can you close the photoshop file, reopen it, and view the updates from lightroom since it is a smart object?
