Bought it last night.. it does so much, its hard to pin down a simple yes/no. I watched one of the prerelease webinars and I was impressed.

After watching the tutorial, I still prefer Silver Efex Pro 2 for my B&W conversions. But the $30 price tag is very attractive.

Old Time Tetons by Jeff Clow, on Flickr

I think it is a steal for $29.99 - bought it this morning and converted this shot I took last month in the Tetons to the look and feel of a vintage postcard.

Silver Efex Pro is the gold standard for B&W, but $30 is impossible to ignore.

I bought it this afternoon and I've been playing around with it. Once I produce something "presentable" I'll post it. So far I think it's fantastic!

I'm confused by their specifications page when they say this:

"Compatible with Aperture 2 and 3, iPhoto and Lightroom 2 and 3 via Topaz Fusion Express."

Does that mean I need to buy something else (fusion express) to use B&W Effects within Aperture?

Bill, I think Fusion Express is free when you buy their products.
You can also use Topaz inside Photoshop.

Fusion Express is free. You need it if you want to use the Topaz Products in Lightroom or Aperture.
