Did you try the tutorials on the Camera Bits web site?

I thought they were pretty good and they helped me get started with PM. Keep in mind it is a file browser with great meta data tools, and not much else. Generally all I do in it is do my initial edit of a shoot and add some meta data - it is amazingly fast at generating previews for the initial edit of a large shoot.

Good program. I use PM to preview the images on my card, delete what I don't want, then import the remaining images to two separate drives at the same time. Prior to import I add metadata and change the file names to reflect the subject and the date the image was taken. The file name changes are made automatically as the files are imported. It works with raw images from all popular cameras. Sometimes they are a little slow updating the raw from new cameras.

The con is that you only get 1 year of free updates, period! Then you have to renew yearly to get any further program updates. My subscription has expired, but I don't have any new cameras that it can't handle, so I'll wait to renew until I buy something new that my current version can't read.
